Terra nova

I fancied watching this sci-fi series even though it only got one season before being cancelled. I didn’t think it was too bad at all really. In fact I quite enjoyed it. I’m sure I’ve seen far worse things get a second season, but this didn’t. I don’t think it was the cast or even the story line. It certainly wasn’t the special effects as they were quite good really. It just didn’t make it.

It reminded me of the UK sci-fi series Outcasts, which was on BBC1 a few years ago. That had a lot of potential and yet didn’t get the second series. Not sure why again. Although with the BBC they seem to be very nervous about anything that isn’t an overnight success. Science fiction rarely works like that, so the BBC have no stomach for it. That’s a shame, but there you go. They’ve even managed to ruin Doctor Who, but that’s a whole different debate.

Anyway, I thought Terra Nova was ok. A shame not to see how it turned out in the end.

Watching Stargate, the whole way through

I decided that I wanted to watch the whole of Stargate SG-1, every episode. There are in fact 213 episodes of Stargate SG-1 and I’ve now watched them all. All in order, and I’m glad I did. It was really enjoyable, and, for the most part the series was good. I even watched the TV movie that followed.

I’m considering watching Stargate Atlantis now. That’s a mere 100 episodes!

SoundLab has been included in the NESTA predictions for 2016.

I was really pleased to see even a small mention of SoundLab in NESTA’s predictions for 2016. I think it should be a big part of what happens next year, and I hope that it’ll be a big part of what I do next year anyway. Their top 10 is in effect a series of topic areas, audio or sound being one. Inside of that they’ve got a series of things they mention. In a way it isn’t strictly speaking a prediction, or at least not as I’d recognise anyway.

Even so, SoundLab is in there and I’m pleased to see it there, especially after the event we delivered for them last month.

If you’re interested in reading about their predictions, you can find them here.

Seeing the Pukes at Under the Bridge

This was last Sunday at Under the Bridge in Fulham. A really nice venue, I’ve always liked going there for gigs. This is one I went to last year as well. The same venue, the same line up, and close to the same date too.

I do enjoy the Pukes, I’ve never listened to their stuff except for live, so this year I’m going to try something different and listen to their recorded stuff to.

Watching Ascension

I more or less stumbled upon the mini series, but I thought that it was a great idea and a brilliant execution of that idea as well. I didn’t realise that they hadn’t been funded for more than a single series. It’s a shame as it didn’t really have a proper ending. I think it could have done really well.

Sadly we’ll never know unless somehow the series gets picked up again.
