The Pop Up Band has been a main stay of SoundLab for well over a year now, so of course we had to use it in the Play Space too. In fact we used it for the band to perform and also for our audience to take over as well. It went down a storm, but what else would you expect from SoundLab and a set up with Thereminis and an AlphaSphere?
I’ve just bought this old 80’s album on vinyl. I’m pretty sure that at one point I had a cassette of it, mainly for just one track, “Crease in his hat”. It isn’t the best song in the world, not by a long way, but it is a lovely song and I really enjoy it. However, it is almost impossible to find a digital version of this anywhere. Which is why I decided to go for a vinyl copy instead. Sadly it is a little scratched a poppy, but it’ll do. It may improve with cleaning up.
The song is just as I remember, and has exactly the same effect. Which is good, as sometimes when you go back to a track after a long time it isn’t the same, and in fact, the memory can be better than the reality, which can be disappointing. Not so here. It is as I remember it, and it is just as good. At least it is for me anyway.
I love being involved in working with Heart n Soul on events like the Play Space. The downside for me is that I don’t get to be a visitor or an audience member at these events and I don’t get to participate in that way. It’s a shame as there’s always stuff going on that I miss, and with the Play Space there was huge amount that I missed.
One area I would’ve really like to have been at was the Chat Zone where Justin talked to some really interesting people on a range of topics around accessible music. I think it was recorded and I’d love to hear that recording if possible.
If I can get my hands on it I may even get it posted somewhere too.
I really really appreciate the support from everyone who contributed to my campaign this year. Whilst I didn’t hit my goal in the end, I didn’t do too badly, so I’m glad that I did it again this year. That’s four years on the go for me and Movember.
Will I do it next year? Who knows, we’ll just have to wait and see. Will I keep the moustache? Maybe …
I know that it’s stupid to say stuff like “I can’t believe it’s December already”, but that’s how it feels. I suppose it’s because November (Movember) has really flown by, especially with all the focus on the SoundLab Play Space event. That really did take up a huge amount of time and effort. It was worth it though. Completely worth it.
So December, Christmas, 2015 coming to a close and all that Jazz. I’ve still got a few things I’d like to get done this month. One of which is getting more out on how to use conductive ink pads with music apps, but there are a few other project that I hope to come back to this month too.
Anyway, for now, happy December.
