Something for the molecule

Slide1

I’ve started making this. It’s a sort of patch sheet for the molecule synth. A way of recording ideas in advance of trying them, or committing stuff that works to paper so you can make it work again. Once it’s finished I’ll post a PDF of it for anyone who wants to use it.

Paper models, small synths and Foldify

IMG_0225

I’ve been meaning to cut this out and see what it actually looks like but I haven’t gotten to it as yet. I like the idea of paper model synths, and whilst foldify is an excellent app for general making of paper models it isn’t as good for synths. Really it just needs one or two templates to deal with keyboards and it would be amazing.

I hope the people at Foldify listen up.

Drafts (iOS Automation) updated

I’ve written a bit about Drafts before. It’s had a massive overhaul and added a load of new functionality. I’ve only had a brief play with the new features, and whilst they seem quite useful, it still isn’t the level of automation I’d like to have in my device.

I’ll give it a bit more of a chance, but it doesn’t go far enough.

Blake’s 7: Warship

IMG_8428

After listening to the chronicles 2 I listened to this hour long story. It’s a full cast production and it works really well. I think that of the Blake’s 7 big finish productions pieces I’ve listened to, this is one of the best so far. I really enjoyed the story and I’m hopeful that it’ll lead on to something interesting.

Restoring my CZ101

It’s fair to say that the CZ101 I got the other day was in a poor state. In fact it was filthy. Having cleared it up and I found that it still worked after all these years. Even though it’s only a half sized keyboard and it’s got no velocity sensing, it’s still a nice bit of hardware.

Pebble Watch update

IMG_8462

A little update on how I’m getting on with my Pebble. Firmware 1.1 was a big improvement in functionality although it still has a way to go. It’s good to see that the developers are still pumping out updates.

The next big thing is the app SDK. Pebble is capable of supporting multiple apps and I can think of a number ideas for some I’d like to see.

  • A camera remote app that lets me trigger the front or rear cameras on my iPhone from my pebble, or indeed record video
  • A simple app that tells me that I’ve moved out of range of my phone’s bluetooth
  • A finder app for my phone
  • An app to trigger a field recording

I’d also like to see a more modular approach to watch faces for the pebble. Not just date and time, but more information about social media etc. All on the same watch face.
