Listening to the Dawn of the Planet of the Apes

I am a big fan of audio books. As I spend a reasonable amount of my time on public transport I find them a great way to enjoy a story or even learn something. But listening to stories is my favourite, and as I’d enjoyed the film so much I thought I’d give this audio book a go. It’s straight from the film rather than being the book from which the film was adapted, so it is very close to what happens in the film, with a little extra here and there. However, it does contain an epilogue. It isn’t huge, but it sort of sets the scene for the next film, or potentially it does anyway.

I enjoyed it. It was fun to listen to and a good way to wait until the DVD comes out and I can watch it again.

Doctor Who: Harvest of Time

I mainly bought this as it was read by Geoffrey Beevers and I think he has an excellent voice. As it turns out it is in fact a Doctor Who story of truly epic proportions. I should think it would have to be an 8 or 9 part story if it had been done in the old days. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed it and I’ll probably be looking out anymore by the same writer and also stories read by Mr Beevers too.

Big Finish: Survivors – Judges

Survivors-Judges

Part 3 of this four hour long set and things are just getting going really. I can see parts of the original and parts of the last BBC version in there too. I’m still enjoying it and already wondering about when series 2 will be out.

Big Finish: Survivors – Exodus

Survivors-Exodus

The second episode of Survivors is just as good, and just as dark as well. It works well. It isn’t easy listening at all. In some ways it is just like an extended part of the first episode really. Not that that’s a bad thing you understand.

Big Finish: Survivors – Revelation

Survivors-Revelation

I’ve been looking forward to listening to this, and I wasn’t disappointed with the first episode at all. It really did deliver in the same way as the 1970s version did. Extremely dark and brutal in many ways. Yet very well executed indeed.

4th Doctor: Destroy The Infinite

Another episode in the current 4th Doctor series. I’m looking forward to this.

I think at some point later in the year I’ll have to listen to the whole series again to get a better view on the whole story arc, which is a bit difficult to see at the moment.
