The iOS7 dilema

 IMG_0327

So, iOS7 is upon us. On the one hand all the music app developers are saying don’t update. On the other hand there are loads of really amazing non-music updates already in, and at least one app that has become iOS7 only.

So I want to move, but I don’t want to break everything, and I certainly don’t want to end up with glitchy audio issues.

So the only thing I can do is to wait.

Vermeer and Music

A friend recommended this to me so as I was in London a couple of weeks ago I decided to make the effort to go and see it, especially as it was due to finish in a couple of days (it is finished now by the way).

Well, I’m glad that I did make the effort. It was very good indeed and was in fact quite thought provoking, especially in the area of how music had a very specific social and cultural dimension to it. It made me think about how we use music socially (which of course in itself means something different) and culturally now, which is quite an interesting topic to ponder on.

I’m not sure I have any answers or even conclusions, but the Vermeer and Music was worth seeing.

Edinburgh Festival: Pirates and Mermaids

This is possibly one of the best pieces of theatre / storytelling I’ve seen in a long time. The audience was limited to 8 people per show, which was an hour and a half long. It was incredible. We were asked to our phones on silent but not to turn them off. A strange request, but one that made sense. I won’t tell you why, but if you get the chance to see this show, see it. You won’t regret it, I promise.

Visiting Dante’s house

I found it really interesting to see Dante’s house. I more or less stumbled over it as I didn’t really know that you could visit it. Whilst it wasn’t amazing I’m glad I went to see it.
