Getting to grips with chromecast

I only got a Chromecast to try out a particular streaming service to get a specific show, and, that didn’t actually work out, which was a shame. However, the upside was that I’ve found the Chromecast itself really useful. Using it with my Nexus Android tablet has been really handy. I found that I got a load of really good offers which have almost paid for the device, and, talking to a colleague who’s already got a Chromecast, apparently the offers get refreshed, so I’m looking forward to getting more.

So it’s had a double upside, it’s been useful itself, and it’s showed another use for my Nexus which I’ve always sort of struggled to find a proper use for.

I’m really looking forward to RSD2015 and there are good reasons too, in fact, quite a number of good reasons, all of which I’m hoping to get hold of. Here’s my list of stuff I’m after:

  1. Eno, Brian –  My Squelchy Life (2LP)
  2.  ADAM & THE ANTS “KINGS OF THE WILD FRONTIER / ANT MUSIC”
  3. Blancmange – I Want More (Extended Version)
  4. David Sylvian & Ryuichi Sakamoto Bamboo Houses / Bamboo Music This new twist on the Bamboo Houses / Bamboo Music 7” single was overseen by David Sylvian himself. The bespoke sleeve has been designed by long time Sylvian collaborator, Chris Biggs (23 Envelope ) and the photographs are by internationally renowned photographer, Yaka Fujii. Format: 7″ Single
  5. Dexys Midnight Runners – 30th anniversary purple vinyl edition of this masterpiece.
  6. HOLGER CZUKAY – HIT/FLOP. Format: 2×10″

  8. Simple Minds – Waterfront (Picture Disc). Format: 7″ Single

It’s a big list this year. The last couple of years I haven’t been looking for nearly as many items, but this year there are just too many good things.

Getting to grips with Editorial workflows

I’ve been using Editorial for a while now and never really got to grips with using the workflow functionality in it. That is up until now. I found an actual use for workflows. I won’t bore you with what I’m using workflows for, but I’ve start using it in some very simple ways. Just using simple dialogues and markdown to record information.

It works. It saves me time, and it’s useful. That’s a good combination as far as I’m concerned. I’m hoping that I’ll continue to find new ways to make use of Editorial’s workflow as it has loads of capabilities, and as yet I’m just scratching the surface of what it can do.

So, hopefully you’ll be hearing more about my use of Editorial workflows in the not too distant future. Who knows, I may even share a few!

Portico live at Rough Trade East

I’ve been enjoying listening to their new album today on Spotify as it was only released today, and so I popped along to Rough Trade East to see them tonight at Rough Trade East. I’m always impressed with the sound there. It’s a nice little venue for small gigs, and I’ve to a few there already this year.

However, what I’m really looking forward to at Rough Trade next is Record Store day! More about that later.
