I’ve been a Doctor Who fan as long as I can remember
I was really tempted to pre-order the new Tom Baker series of stories that are coming from Big Finish. Then I read a post at Tom Baker’s blog which said that they aren’t due to be released until Jan 2012!
I had really thought that they would be out much sooner, but I guess I have no option but to wait, and I’m sure that they’ll be really good. Still, I had hoped that these stories would come sooner.
I listened to this 8th Doctor story yesterday and I can say that it is excellent. A great idea for a story, funny and really well played. It has a great cast and took some great turns in the story that I didn’t expect at all.
I’d thoroughly recommend it to anyone.
I listened to this CD today. It is the first episode of season 4 of the 8th Doctor. Overall not a bad story, by no means the best, but pretty significant in many any other ways!
I’m still enjoying the 8th Doctor series of stories, there’s some fantastic stuff in there. So I’m looking to the rest of season 4, and I’m hoping that there will be a season 5.
These are 2 8th Dr (Paul McGann) stories that I listened to recently. They are at the end of series 3 and they’re a two part story, and they were really good.
Some of the other series 3 stories didn’t really work for me, but these 2 were great fun, and sort of made up for it all. So I’m looking forward to moving on to series 4 soon.
I got to listen to this story again today. A great 2 part story with Paul McGann as the 8th Doctor. It was such a clever story with so many excellent ideas and a very good cast too.
I’ve really got back into these stories again in a big way and I think I’ll be getting some more again soon too.
An early Baker story and a good one too. By today’s standards this was a very long story. Six parts in fact. Now you wouldn’t get that today would you?
Anyway, I can’t even remember this one from the first time around as I even suspect I may not have seen it before, so it was good to watch it even though it is very much a product of it’s time.
I did enjoy it though. A sold story, cast and performances.
This weekend I’ve managed to get some time to listen to more Dr Who audio CDs which is great. I started off with Scapegoat from season 3 of the 8th Doctor stories.
Scapegoat is a standard Dr Who story. What do I mean by that? Well, there’s no story arc that it is part of, there’s no real links to any creatures in the Who universe, it is just a story. In a way I like that, and in another I don’t.
On the one hand it is good just to get a simple story out there and hear it and that’s it. On the other hand I do like the big story arc and so when there’s a story that doesn’t really move it on it can feel like it doesn’t contribute to the season as a whole. Having said all of that it was a good story and I did like it.
I bought the DVD of this and it arrived today. I haven’t seen this since it was on TV! Just great to see it again.
I’ve been getting back into the 8th Doctor audio stories of late. I’d kind of fallen away from listening to them. That is, up until recently.
I’ve just bought another 5 8th Doctor CDs which should keep me busy for a little while at least. They only take me up to the end of season 3 so I have all of season 4 to look forward to now.
The brigadier died today aged 81. Nicholas Courtney had appeared in 107 Dr Who episodes and had appeared in the Sarah Jane Adventures in 2008.
I always thought he was an excellent character. He will be sadly missed.
