Rome

I’ve been watching the Rome series again on DVD. It was such an incredible piece of television. So many good performances.

What always amazed me about it was that even though it was sort of about the history and events of a period of Rome’s history it was essentially about two friends and their relationship. In many ways that’s what made it compelling viewing.

When it was first on TV I watched it avidly and find that it has the same effect now. I think it is one of the few shows that I’d actually like to own.

New V on SyFy

Well, it wasn’t perhaps as bad as it could have been. There was a lizard. Not a great one, but a lizard nonetheless. I guess it was a bit better than series 1, but it hasn’t moved on much really, and as for the ending of the episode! Well, I won’t spoil it for you.

V is coming back, but will there be lizards?

I watched the first series and now I’m watching the last 2 episodes again as Syfy has series 2 starting next week. But I have to ask myself why? The first series of V was awful. I know that as I’m watching the last 2 episodes.

Frankly I’m amazed that they got to make a second series. All I can say is that something has got to happen in the 2nd series and there better be lizards or else.

Dr Who: The Seeds of Doom

An early Baker story and a good one too. By today’s standards this was a very long story. Six parts in fact. Now you wouldn’t get that today would you?

Anyway, I can’t even remember this one from the first time around as I even suspect I may not have seen it before, so it was good to watch it even though it is very much a product of it’s time.

I did enjoy it though.  A sold story, cast and performances.
