Remember there’s the RandomBus, and it’s going to get better too

Whilst mentioning VL tonifier I thought I’d also talk about another of my developing collection of bots, the RandomBus, which I launched a little while ago. It was fun to make and hopefully it’ll be fun for anyone who wants to follow it too. I’ve got some plans for the RandomBus, some interesting plans which I hope to get out in the next few weeks. When they come about I’ll let you know.

I’m not sure I can believe that Spectrum Next is a thing

It’ll be interesting to see what sort of pricing comes up for Spectrum Next when it arrives on whatever crowdfunding site they choose. I like the look of it, but what I’d really like is the same thing for a ZX81. I doubt very much that anyone is going to do that though.

Anyway, it’ll be interesting to see how this develops.

That’s what happens when you find a vintage computer

My name in lights
My name in lights

This is what used to happen when you found a computer anywhere. Of course sometimes the actual words were less appropriate, if you know what you mean.

What you do when you see a vintage computer running basic
What you do when you see a vintage computer running basic

Simple but effective …

A bit of vintage computing
A bit of vintage computing

A nice collection. I wouldn’t mind that lot myself!

And now there’s an ‘app store’ of sorts for bots

I’m sure it won’t be the last either. It seems kind of flaky at the moment and the site doesn’t always load. There isn’t a huge amount there at the moment, but no doubt it will grow. I’m sure that’ll happen, probably a lot after today actually. If you’re interested you can find botlist here.

So, bots, that’s a thing now

I’m trying to get my head around this bot stuff at the moment even though in theory I’ve built a couple myself, but not like the things that people are saying will come to the messenger platform (is that ever one overused word). But I am interested to see where this stuff goes and how it will be used, or more likely miss-used, as is more likely the case. Allegedly more will become clear on the messenger side today, which could be interesting.

We’ll see.

Happy (belated) Birthday Apple

So Apple is 40 now, or at least a few days ago anyway. It’s somewhat amazing to think they’ve been around that long. However, it’s great to know that 40 can be quite so cool. That makes me feel good anyway. I hope that they keep making cool stuff. Of late I’ve found that their stuff hasn’t been quite as reliable as it used to be. I’d like to think that they’ll continue to be innovative. I think it’s been hard to innovate in the mobile space for a while, but that’s what they need to do, that’s what the market needs.

Happy Arduino and Genuino Day

Interesting that it’s changed now from just Arduino day. I wonder how long before it becomes just Genuino day? I guess it will happen eventually.

So today is a day when people do strange things with small microcomputers. That’s excellent. I might even find some time myself to do something. I had planned to go to an event, but it ended up not being possible sadly, so I will have to satisfy myself with some home tinkering I expect.

So my KDJ-ONE won’t come until June

I’ve backed quite a few things on Kickstarter over the last few years, and on occasion things are late. I think that’s inevitable really. But the KDJ-ONE is really late, really really late. They’re now saying that it’ll come in June this year. It’s been a long wait. I hope it’ll be worth the wait in the end.

Some thoughts about Chromecast Audio

Chromecast Audio
Chromecast Audio

So I’ve had this device for a little while. It works. It does exactly what it says it would, I can use it for Spotify and it works just great with that. But that’s not the problem. Not at all. The problem is that I don’t really have a use for it as yet.

Now I only got this device as it was on sale, down from £30 to £15, which I thought was a good deal, in fact a great deal. So I got it. Now I don’t know what to do with it really. Since getting it I’ve only used it on a couple occasions. Granted, it’s worked fine both times, but both were to test it out to see how it worked. Now I know. I also know that I don’t really need it either.

I know it’ll be useful for something, or if I get rid of it it’ll become useful straight away. That’s happened plenty of times before too. So I won’t just get rid of it for the sake of it. But it does need a reason to be kept about.
