I hate it when something is lost

I’ve been trying to find the registration code for an old Palm application that I’d like to put into my StyleTap emulator on my old 3G. The company that made the software are long gone, and so far I can’t locate the registration details from anywhere.

It looks like I’ll have to give up on it for now at the very least, but it is really annoying!

Getting apps into iDroid (2)

This wasn’t something I thought would run under iDroid. It is a very simple app. All that happens is some balls float around the screen. The significant thing is that I made it in Processing, so I didn’t think it would work at all on the emulated version of iDroid, but it did!

Getting apps into iDroid (1)

Well it isn’t all plain sailing with iDroid of course, I’ve had quite a few problems getting things to load in it, although some things are just fine.

The one app I really wanted to get running on iDroid was Tasker, which is one of the most excellent Android apps ever in my book. However, I just get this:

Which is of course no fun at all. I may do some research on this, but my guess is that this isn’t going to be readily fixable.

Well that didn’t work then did it

I thought it would a great idea to get an old bluetooth keyboard running on my Axim, but this one doesn’t seem to want to even switch on as yet! Just my luck. Trying to get text into a windows mobile keyboard using a stylus is no fun at all!

Processing arrives for iOS

A brief play with Processing JS for iOS will tell you that it is very definitely a version 1.0. Having said that, I think it’s a good start and even though I’ve only messed around with it a little so far, but it is possible to get stuff up and running very fast.

This is processing JS and not processing. For me that meant that I’m not as familiar with this version as I am with the regular flavour of processing. Even so, I fiddled with the sample sketch and got it to do a few different things already.

I’m really hoping that this app gets some more functionality soon. Things like a way to export or email the code out would be handy, and a reference manual that’s on the device / app and isn’t just on the web. That would be good.

Starting out with Basic4PPC

It is pretty retro I know, but it is sort of fun to mess around with things like Basic4ppc to see what I can make. Having said that there is the small problem of what actually to make using b4ppc.

You can’t really make any worthwhile music app with this language, and it isn’t too useful for anything net related. So, what should I make with it?

Where are the monotrons?

I’ve been waiting ages for the two new monotrons to arrive, but so far nothing, at least nothing at a reasonable price anyway. A few retailers have them on at £100, but I’m not willing to pay that much for them. I’m aiming to pay around £50 each for them.

Of course the big problem with these is that I wonder if I’ll get them and then never use them, or hardly ever use them and it’ll just be a waste of cash. I rarely use my original monotron now, so maybe I should get that out and give it a go again before I spend out on two new ones?

Showing the cracks

As you can see the cracks in my iPad are pretty nasty. So far the screen protector is holding it all together.

GuitarJack and some experimentation

I’ve been meaning to do this for a while now although I’d wanted to use my iPad 2, but it seems now that it won’t be usable as an input device for some reason. Anyway, I used the GuitarJack in my iPhone 4 and it works very well. Using it with GuitarTone is good too, which I wasn’t expecting as what I wanted to achieve was a non-guitar like sound. I got close enough.
