Music is a huge part of my life so it’s almost certain that this category will have a lot of stuff in it.
I bought this album after reading a really interesting interview with him in the Wire where he talked about his modular and composition methods. It left me so intrigued that I really wanted to know more about the sound and so I bought generator.
It has a lovely clean sound to it and I’ve found it very useful to listen to whilst concentrating on something else.
I was listening to “Private Dreams and Public Nightmares by Daphne Oram, Andrea Parker & Daz Quayle” and it has been completely inspiring. It really is an amazing album with some great soundscapes.
It is quite a dense listen though, if that makes any sense. I had to stop half way through for a break, but it’s really worth a listen.
I was amazed to hear this morning that a new album of Martyn’s work was being released. I checked iTunes on my phone and there it was, so imagine how disappointed I was to get home and find that it isn’t on iTunes anymore for some reason. I’ve no idea why, and all I want to do is get a quick listen to it and then I’d probably buy it, but for now that’s not possible.
According to his site it’s available though.
Another excellent and experimental application for making strange music, which is of course what I love to do. The app is from Nick Collins who’s made some excellent apps for iOS.
Another more experimental app that I like to mess around with, and was doing so over a coffee recently. I do love the strange agency’s work it is so interesting and creative. They always have excellent ideas.
I’ve posted about the wonderful iOS tools from the Strange Agency before, so I was really pleased to see that they have another, or possibly an update on the way.
The refer to it as ‘MegaCurtis’, and it looks amazing, very much building on Curtis for the iPhone and the iPad version too. In some ways I’m hoping that it is a new app and not an update as I like the existing one and would almost just like to have a new one to compliment it, but irrespective I’m looking forward to it, for more strangeness and experimentation. Here we go.
More time spent with PixiTracker, what a great idea. I remember it the original running on Palm OS and Windows Mobile. With that you had to run it as a file in PixiLang, but that’s another story altogether.
Really enjoyed playing around with this app yesterday. It has a great feel to it and I think that with some practice I might even get reasonable at making tracks with this app.

I had an idea the other day about how to use Griff studio in combination with other gear. I’ve no idea if it will work or be useful, but it’s worth trying out for fun if nothing else.
