That was a good day

I found this badge in my coat pocket. It was from the Music 4.5 conference I was at and spoke at. I really enjoyed the event and there was a lot of very interesting information shared there, but I think most of all I enjoyed the people.

So it was good to remember the day when I pulled this out of my pocket and thought about some of the things I might do as a result.

Happy birthday Mary Tamm

My favourite Romana. I think it’s probably time to watch The Key to Time again. Anyway, many happy returns to one of the best Doctor Who companions in my humble opinion.

World Poetry day

I very nearly missed it completely, but I’ll be sure that it’s in my diary for next year at the very least. I’m not even sure that I knew that there was a world poetry day, but now I do. So what am I going to do about it? Well at the very least I’m going to try to read some poetry today, as I haven’t done that for a long time.

30 years since ‘Only You’ was released

Who could believe it? I had no idea that Yazoo was that old! It’s funny as I saw Vince Clarke and Alison Moyet play at the Mute festival at the Roundhouse last year and I thought they were brilliant.

I think I’ll have to listen to some Yazoo tomorrow.

Music 4.5 Conference

I thought I’d post this link to a handy article about the Music 4.5 conference on mobile music which I spoke at last week, and also their blog is always a good read for music and tech.

Music 4.5 Mobile Music – the sound of the future

I was speaking at this event yesterday, and I have to say that it was really interesting (and I’m not just talking about my talk). There was some really interesting thoughts on the relationships between mobile companies and the music business.

I learnt a lot from all of the sessions, but most of all I really enjoyed talking to Tim Cole from Intermorphic, and Michael from RJDJ, Gareth from Liine, and Ed from Audio Silver Lining. There was a great bunch of people there. It’s left me with a lot of things to think about too.

The App Side – Music Apps, Beyond The Hype

I went along to this event by the AppSide last night and was impressed to hear mobile music creation tools mentioned quite a few times. Of course, the main focus was around mobile artist apps, which was interesting to a degree, but the data was probably the most interesting things. Turns out that music apps are sticky! Who knew?

My guest post at Music 4.5

The people over at Music 4.5 are lovely. When I first spoke to Rassami about a mobile music conference last year I was just amazed to think that someone would be interested in that kind of thing, but now, less that twelve months on, it doesn’t seem so strange.

I’m looking forward to the event on the 8th. The panel of speakers looks really good (yep, I’m on it too), and I think there’ll be a broad spectrum of issues raised to cover the mobile music world and where it has got to.

If you’re interested in reading my piece over at Music 4.5’s blog, you can find it here.
