I really wanted to see Heroes, but when it was on the BBC it was always shifting around on the schedules, so I never got to see the whole thing. So, now it’s on Netflix I can see the whole thing, although I’m not sure that I’ll get to see it all in my free trial. We’ll see.

App revisit: Toro Mini
Toro Mini is a real fav of an app. I love the sounds it makes and how simple it is to work with. There was some talk about there being an iPad version too, but that hasn’t surfaced as yet. Shame really, it would be nice to see if get some updates.
A new look, a new theme, some tweaks
I’ve finally got around to uploading my new theme for the site. I’m quite pleased with it so far, and I’ve had a bit of a move around as well, so some of the pages have moved around too.
The Day of the Triffids
I watched this when it was on the BBC originally and thought it was a very good version, so it was good to see it again on Netflix. The performances were very good and some interesting choices on casting, and the triffids didn’t look too awful, which is really hard to do I’m sure.
The only downside is that on netflix it cuts out every few seconds!
App revisit: Noise IO Pro Synth
Noise IO Pro is arguably the first synth for the iPhone/Touch. It’s still pretty amazing to this day. Amidio haven’t done anything with it for a long time, although I thought there was a suggestion that they were going to issue an HD version or an update of some kind. Still, it’s worth remembering this app as a real groundbreaking event in mobile music history.

Trying out Netflix
I decided to check out Netflix to see if it was worth the £5.99 a month that they charge. So I’ve started out my trial today. My first look through showed that a load of things that I’m interested in they just don’t have. So that’s not a good start, but they do have a few things that I’ve been meaning to see or catch up with, so I’ll try it out for a while and see how it goes.
One thing I’ve noticed is that the picture quality isn’t always wonderful and the service cuts out on a regular basis.
App revisit: Yonac – miniSynth and MegaSynth
Yonac’s miniSynth was one of the first synth apps I had on my 1st generation iPod Touch. It was a massive step forward, and when they brought out megaSynth it was even better. I still love Yonac’s apps, they’re up there with the best in my opinion.
Happy Record Store day
Great to see that this is being kept alive. I have very fond memories of time spent searching around in record stores for something unique and interesting. Especially second hand stores like the sadly missed Beanos which used to be in Surrey Street.
I hope that events like this keep people visiting record stores, not just on a day like today, but far more often.
New Mixtikl interface
Software that I have enjoyed for quite a few years now in various guises and on various platforms. The latest version of the interface is big step forward, and the app, well, as far as making music goes it is amazing, there’s nothing more that can be said about it really.
