New Order at the Brixton Academy

I have to say that I was really looking forward to this gig, and it was worth the wait. The first few tracks were a little off on the mix front, but it did improve after that. They played all the greats as you’d expect, and they finished off with a couple of Joy Division tracks too.

So it was worth going for sure, and actually, the light show was pretty amazing too.

An unearthly child

I was amazed to find the original Doctor Who on Netflix, so I had to take a look as I think it’s been a very very long time since I saw the very first Doctor Who. It’s amazing to see it again, and especially to hear the music again and think of Delia Derbyshire’s work in making that real.

Actually, when you look at it the story’s very advanced for its time. Also, the inside of the original TARDIS was a lot bigger than in some of the iterations of the Doctor. Interesting stuff to watch.

Duck

Another photo I’d completely forgotten, and I’m actually quite pleased with it. I think it’s a really good shot.

Changing the way I think about listening

Using Spotify over the last few weeks has made me start to re-evaluate how I listen to music, or more specifically how I discover music. I’m quite intrigued by the idea of sharing playlists and collaborative playlists, and the whole concept of subscribing to a playlist. I think that I probably need to spend some more time getting used to this stuff before I go publishing and sharing my own playlists all over the place.

But listening is changing, probably in a good way, and I feel like I need to catch up and understand it better.

Romo is going to get fixed

Well it looks like the lovely people at to motive have come up with a solution for the EU smartphone volume problem and have established a little outpost I Germany to the main board firmware updated.

So ish all be sending off my board in the next few days in the hope of getting it back soon so I can finally use my Romo.

When it happens there’ll be posting. Much posting.

Songkick

A friend told me about SongKick the other day and I found that there was a Spotify app for it too. It’s a really useful for finding shows for people in your music library, and the fact that it works inside Spotify makes it much more useful. I’ve already found a bunch of shows that I might go to now.

I suppose from that point of view it isn’t so great as actually it’s ending up costing me!
