A bit live at WOMAD

This is from way back in the summer, but we did manage a couple of songs on one of the open mic stages at WOMAD, which was great fun actually. In fact, we should do it more often I think.

Wallander

I really liked the UK version of Wallander with Kenneth Brannagh. I’ve watched all 3 series and recently re-watched the first two series on netflix. I was impressed again with just how good the performances were and the very high production values in all the episodes. But the one thing I haven’t been able to do so far is to watch the original series. I’m sure it’s very good, and maybe I’ll get around to watching it one day, but for now I’ll just stick to the one I like.

Some pictures from Antwerp

Whilst I was only in Antwerp for a few days I did enjoy it and it seemed liked a great city and a it has 5000 pubs / bars. Now that’s worth going to right?

Turing Fest programme

A really good event. Well worth the visit. I think that if I manage to go to Edinburgh for next year’s festival I’ll have to try to get along to more stuff.

A visit to Turing Fest

I really wanted to get along to something at Turing Fest this year and as I was in Edinburgh I was able to. It was a bit of a stretch though as I was leaving on the day that Turing Fest started. Anyway, I got along for a session on the first day. The session was about aligning the interests of investors and entrepreneurs. Whilst it was largely based around the Edinburgh start up scene I learnt a lot about the venture capital process itself and how VCs and angel investors look at start ups.

I wish I could have stuck around for more of the sessions, but that wasn’t possible sadly. Maybe next year.

Re-listening to Concreted0g

I have known Concreted0g for a while now and I really do like his music, so when I was looking for some CDs and stumbled over this one again, which was the first CD of his music I ever heard, it was like bumping into an old friend again. It’s good to hear it again, and just as fresh as ever.

Of course, this is an electronic / circuit bent release, and is really only once facet of his musical talent. His more recent work is just as impressive but in a very different direction. He’s a talented chap you see, and I’m glad to know him.

If you get a chance to listen to his music, or indeed see him live, I’d grab it.

Finishing off Survivors

I’ve been watching the BBC’s re-make of the Survivors for a while, including a large gap in watching. But now, I’ve finished it. It only got 2 seasons, and I think it could have gone on for longer, but never mind. In the end I thought it was very good. Very good for a post apocalyptic view of the world. It wasn’t as bleak as some, like “The Road” for instance, but it was quite an interesting perspective.
