William Morris at the National Portrait Gallery

I visited this exhibition at the National Portrait Gallery a couple of weeks ago. Whilst I don’t know a lot about Morris I do like the work I’ve seen so I was really looking forward to seeing something more and learning about him. However, I was a bit disappointed really. Firstly it was quite a small exhibition, and for £12 I did expect a bit more. Secondly, the exhibition was much more about his influence in political and artistic circles rather than being about him.

Don’t get me wrong, it was good, for what it was, but it wasn’t really what I had expected or envisaged. A bit of a shame really.

Experimenting with attaching other devices to the Romo. The idea was to use a simple velcro patch to attach a little light sensitive instrument to the front of the Romo. That way it could make a noise depending on how much light was going into it.

It did work. It was ok, but not that interesting. However, it means I can attach other stuff to Romo and do some more experiments at some point. Which I will do.

The Night of the Triffids

Another excellent production from Big Finish. The Night of the Triffids is a follow on from the original story, set 25 years into the future. As I’d really enjoyed a number of the interpretations of the original story I thought I’d try this follow up. I wasn’t disappointed at all.

As with almost every story I’ve listened to from Big Finish it was excellent, and, in places, very moving too. In some ways I hope that the writer would do a follow up to the follow up. I doubt that will happen, but I can always hope.
