More sad news Tod Dockstader passes away
Obviously a lot less well known that Mr Nimoy, but no less sad. I remember first hearing about Tod Dockstader in an interview he gave to The Wire. I found his work and his past truly inspirational when I first read that. And I still do.
So today I’m spending some time listening to his work. I think that’s the best tribute I could give to him today, and I must find that interview in The Wire again. I think it would be good to read that once more.
One of the best books I’ve read in ages
This was a great present and really is incredibly funny but in probably the best way I can think of. Ok, not every single page is rip roaringly funny, but it is always entertaining, and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Arduino day 2015 approaches
Arduino day is just over a month away now. It’s on the 28th of March. You can find details here. My nearest event is at the South London Makerspace. So I might head over there on the day.
I miss Mitsoura
They only released two albums and the last was a long time ago. Dura Dura Dura (their last album) was excellent as was their first album but it’s been years since they did anything. It’s a shame. I wish they’d done more. I’ve checked their site occasionally and there’s never anything new. I suppose it’s a good thing that the site is even still there. It’s something.
I’m glad I got to see them at least a couple of times. I would have liked to see them more, but they didn’t do much in the UK sadly. So I guess I just have to resign myself to the fact that there isn’t a huge chance of getting any new music from Mitsoura. Never mind.
Sad News Leonard Nimoy passes away
Such sad news. At 83 Mr Nimoy has passed on.
Star Trek has been a constant in my life since I was very small and Mr Spock was my favourite character as a child. So I will always have very fond memories of him in that role.
I think that’s all I can say. Except of course, to say, live long, and prosper.
So Belkin are making a lego case for the iPhone 6
I’ve been checking to see if there was one available every now and then, but I got bored of wondering so I just asked Belkin, and they told me that they are making one! Which is excellent as I’d always liked the one I had for my iPhone 5. I just hope it doesn’t take too much longer.
Olegtron Experiment 2
Fourth Doctor: The Darkness of Glass
I listened to this story today and enjoyed it immensely. It was like a hybrid between Talons of Weng Chiang and The Horror of Fang Rock. It great fourth Doctor story. Just a classic. Wonderful.
The writing is great, the characters are excellent and it’s a good old fashioned adventure. I can’t say anything bad about it at all.
Hildur Guðnadóttir at Cafe Oto
This was a lovely performance by Hildur Guðnadóttir at Cafe Oto last night. Quite inspiring and beautiful. It makes me want to listen to her music again and remember just how delicate and wonderful it is.
It has also given me a bunch of ideas that I want to try out as well, which was a nice added benefit.
