I went to see this group the other week and really enjoyed their musical styles. This was the first time I’d seen the group although I have seen / heard similar styles like this before. It was good, fun and they certainly are very talented indeed.

Pebble SmartStraps
This is so clever. Such a great idea. I’m really impressed with Pebble and what they’re doing with their latest products. I can see this being very popular. I hope that some really interesting strap designs come out soon now that they’ve released the 3D print files for the design.
I can see all sorts of cool uses for this technology.

Palm OS virtual machines
You probably know by now that I’m a bit obsessed by the old Palm OS and PDAs in general.
One of the best emulators for Palm OS is PHEM. It runs on Android. PHEM works by using Palm OS ROMs. You can load as many ROMs as you want and then from those ROMs create as many sessions or virtual machines as you want.
This is pretty impressive. I’m just getting back to this and will be creating a variety of little machines soon.
Thinking about what to do next with my Romo
I bought the very first iteration of romo, or rather I kickstarted Romo. It was fun, once I got it working, which did take a little while as there were some issues with units in Europe. But it got there. Of course it didn’t support the iPhone 5 so when I moved from a 4 to a 5 it wasn’t workable any longer.
This situation went on until I had the 4 back, relatively recently. Since then I’ve been playing with using it with my TWINE as well. That’s sort of been fun too, but now I’m wondering what, if anything, I can do with it next. I don’t really have any new ideas for it at the moment, and it seems unlikely that Romotive will bring new features to this first iteration of the device.
Also, I never did get to the bottom of what you could do with the little aux ports on the front of the device. I would have liked to know what was possible, and why they put them there.
So for now Romo is gathering dust sadly, until I can come up with a new use. If I do, I’ll let you know.
Doctor Who: Engines of War
I have to say that I was skeptical about this story until I saw that Nicholas Briggs was reading it. I felt that the best thing about the 50th anniversary episode of Doctor Who was John Hurt, the War Doctor. I thought that John Hurt was the best thing about it in fact.
So I wasn’t sure of what to expect with this audio story. However, after getting into it I’m quite impressed. Mr Briggs does a very passable John Hurt and has really captured the character of the war doctor. It makes me wonder if there are going to be more stories from the war doctor? I think that might be a good thing.
Getting sidetracked
It is just so easy to get distracted by so many interesting things going on. In fact, I got distracted several times whilst writing this. It’s so difficult to concentrate isn’t it? Or is it just me? I seem to always be getting sidetracked into something interest and curious and then I disappear down that little rabbit hole for an hour or so only to reappear and have forgotten what I was supposed to be doing in the first place.
Does that happen to you to?

Record Store Day is on the 18th of April
I’m a big fan of Record Store Day. I’ve been going for a few years now. It’s a fun event and you can end up getting some great records. Of course as we get closer to the day there will be more news about which labels are releasing what albums for record store day this year.
Last year I picked up all the things I want to get in the end, but I wish I’d had a bit more time on the day to stay and watch some of the live performances and just mooch around a bit too.
Dalek Empire …
I bought the Dalek Empire series as part of Big Finish’s humble bundle at the beginning of the year. It was excellent value. I’d listened to the first episode of season 1 before so it was good to get the whole story, all the season and be able to listen to them in one go.
They really to make for a very broad story arc. I’m glad I heard it all. It’s only fair to say that the whole thing has now come to an end. Well, probably anyway. It’s never an entirely safe bet to say that with Big Finish. You never quite know what they’re going to revive.
Anyway, I’d happily recommend the series to anyone who knows even a tiny bit about the Daleks. It’s a great story.
