Raspberry Pi is on the way!

I’m really excited. It is on the way at last! But of course, what will I do with it? I have an ambitious plan of course, what else would you expect. However, it is almost certainly too ambitious for me to pull it off, but then, if it wasn’t, what would the point be of trying?

Serious consideration of Android

Yep, I am seriously considering Android for my next phone, which I will be able to update to in just over 2 weeks. As someone who is totally into music making on handheld devices you might wonder why I’m even interested in Android as it has no use whatsoever for music. Ok, that’s a little over the top. There are a few music making apps for Android, but not many to be fair.

So why move? Well, simply put it is that Android is more open and accessible. In data terms there is nothing to choose between the two operating systems really. If I want email, RSS, twitter etc then they can both do most of this stuff just fine. So one of the things I’m considering is moving to an Android phone and getting an iPod touch to use for music making.

The next couple of weeks will tell me if I can make the jump successfully.

Laurel Halo at Field Day

I’ve only recently started to listening to her material, and it is very good, although there isn’t too much of it around. I believe there’s an album coming out this year. Anyway, she was really good, I liked the set and it seemed to get a good response from the audience too.

Punchdrunk track: WT – A child no more

This is a track made in Bhajis Loops as part of a collection of 60 tracks that was to called ‘Punch Drunk’. I’m still working on getting the whole thing finished, but I thought that I’d share some of the tracks to see if anyone has any views on them.

The original plan was that there would be 60 tracks each of 60 seconds long, which explains why this track is only a minute long!

Prometheus

So I’ve seen it now. It was an obvious choice to go and see, and I’ve read a lot of the chatter about the ending and how can it be a real prequel etc. Well, I enjoyed it, and that’s about all I really think I need to say. It was an interesting film, some good concepts and a story that in some ways sets the scene for the Alien films, but doesn’t answer all your questions.

I think that’s best, because you never know, there might just be another Alien prequel coming too.

Field Day Programme

I like the idea of these little programme things that you can wear around your neck and are just loose laminated cards with the running list for each stage, but they’re not nearly as easy to use as you think they might be, and in the end, I’d actually prefer a good old paper programme.

Paul’s Shruthi-1

A really nice example of the Mutable Instruments Shruthi-1 in steam punk style. Sounds awesome too!

I posted this over at Palm Sounds as well this morning, but I wanted to put it here as well.
