Pop Song is an oddity. I got it on one of those tiny mini CDs you used to be able to get. It is an odd little song, and not, as it’s title suggests, very poppy at all.

However, it is a good song, and contains elements that suggest at some of the work that he went on to do. In some ways it seems to be a sort of experiment for him. Investigating sounds and textures and I like it for that as much as for the song itself.

Wave is a very dark song from a very dark album on the whole, and whilst I like the way it slowly and fluidly plays itself out it can be difficult to listen to. Not because it isn’t melodic, but because it lacks a sense of joy in some ways.

Yes, I think that’s what’s missing from it.

This is actually not a track I particularly enjoy. It is ok, but certainly not one of the best and not a track I play often at all. Interesting to hear it though.

Venice is one of my favourite Fennesz albums, not least because of David Sylvia on Transit, which is a great song and a great collaboration between him and Fennesz.

I actually thought that Transit was more successful than their work together on the Manafon album.

A great listen, and I was glad to hear it again.

This is the remix version from ‘The Good Son vs. The Only Daughter’. I prefer this version to the original and I actually think it is a pretty amazing remix on the whole.

As it goes, the whole remix album is very impressive indeed and I tend to play it more than ‘Blemish’ itself, but then I’ve found this with a few albums in the last few years.

Another blemish track that I enjoy although with this one I do prefer the remix version (that comes tomorrow).

I love the original song, but I also love the remix version. In fact the whole album is a joy to listen to.

Whilst it is a difficult album, this is a beautiful song and I’ve really liked it from the moment I first heard it. It is wonderful. I’m not sure what else I can say about it except that I always find it strangely uplifting.

This is an incredibly beautiful song. I could finish my post about it right there, but there is so much more to this track.

I love the background, how you can hear the sounds of a shopping centre check out in the background. It is such a delicate track and yet quite definite and sure at the same time.

I haven’t tired of listening to this song since the day I first heard it.

This song is from the Rain Tree Crow album. You can hear the tension in every track. In many ways the whole thing didn’t work, but in a sense, just because of that it did.

I like this song even though it feels broken to me.
