That was a great day out
House Concert
I went to a house concert for the first time on saturday night. I wasn’t entirely sure of what to expect, but actually I was pleasantly surprised by the event. From what I hear these kind of events are more popular in the US but haven’t really taken off here so far.
Even so, it was a good evening. Nice people, some interesting music that I probably wouldn’t have listened to otherwise, and, not a huge cost to it either.
I’d probably go again if I get the chance, irrespective of what the music is.
Interplay
I listened to this album 3 times yesterday and it is growing on me. I guess one of the things that makes it difficult to get into is that I’ve already heard a couple of tracks which I really liked, so I sort of think the whole album should be like that, and it isn’t entirely.
Still, it is a good album, and I think it’ll continue to grow on me.
John Foxx and The Maths: Interplay
I’ve been waiting for this album for a while now. I got the ‘special’ edition, which is nice to look at. I’m listening to it now, so I’ll let you know what I think later.
Blancmange
Saw them at Koko. They were great of course. What else can I say! The new album is growing on me as well.
Update on ‘Back and Forth’
I’ve been a bit quiet about my new audio project called ‘Back and Forth’. It is still on the go, but it has stalled a bit for now. One track is nearly finished, but sadly the rest are still at a fairly raw stage.
I’m hoping I might get some more time to work on this stuff at the weekend and move it forward, so there may be an update then.
Blanc Burn
I listened to this album for the first time today. The very long awaited album from Blancmange. On first listen I’d say it is a bit of a mixed bag. Maybe a curate’s egg. Good in parts.
I’m not saying I don’t like it you understand, there are a few tracks that I really enjoyed, but some that missed the mark in my book. I think it might take a few more listens to get into it completely, so I’ll have to try and do that before I go and see them at the Koko next week. I am looking forward to that a lot.
Blancmange Single is out: Drive Me
Blancmange release a single from their forthcoming album called ‘Drive me’. I love the song already as it is quirky and fun and has excellent lyrics.
I am really looking forward to this album even though I’ve already heard a few of the songs from it.
