Music day at Exhibition Road

I was around Exhibition Road for part of Music day this year. I missed it the last time it was on, so I was glad to be able to go this year. I managed to catch a few musical moments, one of which was a performance of a piece that was inspired by the hall of the modern world in the Science Museum.

It wasn’t bad at all. Quite ponderous and slow and thoughtful, but I enjoyed it a lot in the end. I’m glad I went, and I hope that music day keeps going, it certainly made it a more interesting trip.

Ultravox – Brilliant

When I heard that Ultravox had a new album coming out I was relatively excited. I’ve always liked them, but perhaps their later albums not so much. Anyway, I thought I’d give this new one a try out, and I listened to it twice, or maybe three times, but overall, it really didn’t work for me, which was a shame.

Having said that, one track really stood out for me. It’s called ‘Rise’, and I’ve been playing it over and over. It stood out from the rest of the album by a long way, and I think it’s a great.

Laurel Halo, Quarantine

I listened to this album for the first time today. It has an interesting structure and some great textures and sounds to it. I think I’ll probably need to listen to it a few more times to get into it, but it most certainly has my attention.

When I’ve digested it further I’ll write some more about it.

A new Imagined Village album

I didn’t know that they had a new album out, and more than that, I had no idea that they’d released an another album after their first! I’m really out of touch on this aren’t I. Still, never mind. I just need to catch a little with what they’ve been up to.

Laurel Halo at Field Day

I’ve only recently started to listening to her material, and it is very good, although there isn’t too much of it around. I believe there’s an album coming out this year. Anyway, she was really good, I liked the set and it seemed to get a good response from the audience too.

Punchdrunk track: WT – A child no more

This is a track made in Bhajis Loops as part of a collection of 60 tracks that was to called ‘Punch Drunk’. I’m still working on getting the whole thing finished, but I thought that I’d share some of the tracks to see if anyone has any views on them.

The original plan was that there would be 60 tracks each of 60 seconds long, which explains why this track is only a minute long!
