I love music. Making music, listening, talking about it and anything else too.
Alison Moyet, The Minutes …
I realise that this album came out last year, but I only just gave it a listen, and I’ve been really impressed by it. It’s some great synth pop, and I love synth pop! In fact, some of the sounds and the song construction is very reminiscent of the last Yazoo album. I think it’s a great album and I expect to be listening to it for some time to come.
Sculpture playing live at the Fish Police album launch
I’ve been meaning to post this video for ages now. I thought that Sculpture gave one of the most interesting performances I’ve seen in a long time. It was inventive and mesmerizing and I really hope I get the opportunity of seeing them again.
littleBits Korg Synth kit: The Keyboard
I need to get back to my Molecule Synth
A few things I’m looking forward to (musically that is)
These three have been on my mind so I thought I’d write them down …
- An album from Doc Pop which should land at the beginning of February. I’ve seen a video from it which I loved so I’m really looking forward to the whole album, especially as it was due late in 2013.
- Imogen Heap’s new album which is due soon I think. I haven’t liked everything she’s done but she’s always interesting and I like her lyrics a lot.
- Blancmange. Lots of things really. An album of remixes I think, some new material and another tour which I’ll do my best to be at.
Sure, there’s other things, but these three have been on my mind today so I thought I’d share them.
So, Heaven 17 are writing again
This is great news of course, and I’m really happy to hear that they’re making something new for 2014. My personal preference would be for something that’s halfway between Penthouse and Pavement and the Luxury Gap.
Let’s wait and see what they come up.
Now here’s the real sound of Christmas … Tijuana Christmas (Sound of Brass)
Something from my childhood that I remember from every Christmas. Decorating the tree to the sound of Tijuana Christmas. My Grandfather used to love it too, and in many ways that sound reminds me of him, which is no bad thing at all.
It was awesome, and now I’ve found out that it’s on iTunes I can go grab it for myself and relive all of those memories!
The Wire 2013 Rewind
So it’s time to find out what the alignment has been between the Wire and my personal listening tastes over the last twelve months. In previous years it hasn’t been as close as you might think, but I think that this year it may be a lot closer. A tentative flick through the magazine will show what the results are.
Either way I do find the Wire’s annual rewind a good way to catch up on releases (and re-releases) that I’ve missed or not properly listened to, so this year’s edition will make for good reading I’m sure.
