someone who's doing some things
It’s a big passion for me. Making music on the move is something I’ve been doing for a long time and I hope to do it far into the future.
I’ve been playing with Roli Blocks again, and this time, I’m actually getting into it. I’m starting to find it quite useful and creatively inspiring. It is early days as yet, but I’m getting some results.
So I thought I’d share some very small videos of what I’ve been doing.
It’s a great shame that Allihoopa has now gone dark. It was a great service. I made some good use of it, but not as much as I would’ve liked. I guess that’s a bit of a reminder for me. That is just the way it goes of course.
So I thought I’d grab all of my content from the site before it went down. I rendered all of my tracks to video, and then I added them to a 1 second video mash up. So here’s one minute and 20 seconds of tracks I uploaded to Allihoopa.

The track was made entirely in an iOS app called Auxy, which is currently one of my favourite apps for writing whole tracks. It’s very intuitive and easy to use, whilst still giving you enough depth to get a lot done.
The track art is a photo I took on a flight home just after leaving Belfast airport. It seemed like the ideal image to go along with the sentiment of the track.

I’ve finally managed to get a release out on Spotify. That is to say, I managed to get it out at the end of last year. It’s called ‘Dream Draw‘. You can have a listen by heading over to Spotify. I hope you like it.
All of the tracks were made on mobile using Aurora Sound Studio on an iPhone and iPad. Various effects were used during the creation of the EP. I quite like it.

Whilst mentioning VL tonifier I thought I’d also talk about another of my developing collection of bots, the RandomBus, which I launched a little while ago. It was fun to make and hopefully it’ll be fun for anyone who wants to follow it too. I’ve got some plans for the RandomBus, some interesting plans which I hope to get out in the next few weeks. When they come about I’ll let you know.
So here’s my old Casio VL-Tone, the VL-1. I loved these little devices. In many ways they are where my journey into electronic music began.
So I’m doing something to do with Casio VL-Tones soon. It’s not a big thing, but it’ll be a fun thing.
Or at least stuff that’s been around for a while and is now collected together. I thought it made a nice collection as I’ve been listening to it whilst walking around and enjoyed it.
