The next Fennesz / Sakamoto album is due on Monday and I’m really looking forward to that too. I loved their last release and from listening to the previews on iTunes it sounds just as good. Very peaceful, very restful. Yes please. Bring it on.

Experimental anything really. I love things that are an experiment, be it music, art, electronics or most other things.
Is there anything new?
I’ve been continuing to read Nicollas Collins book ‘Handmade Electronic Music’, and I’ve started to think that there are no new ideas to be had. There were so unique and creative ideas musically that I started to wonder if I would ever find a way to do anything unique.
Then I started to realise that I don’t need to do anything unique, just something that sounds good, at least to me. Because that’s what music is about.
Twine could be just what I’m after
I like the idea of this, especially the web app part too, but I might need to investigate it a bit more before I commit to it on Kickstarter.
Handmade Electronic Music
I love this book. I have the paperback edition somewhere but I can’t find it right now, so I decided to buy the iBooks version as part of a plan to be able to make some of the circuits using iCircuit on my iPhone.
I realise that this sort of defeats the object, but when you’re on a train it isn’t easy (or advisable) to start soldering. There would be unpleasant consequences I should imagine.
Anyway, that’s my plan, and we’ll see how it works out, but if you don’t know this book, then it is excellent if you want to get into DIY electronics.
Soldering Iron Found, Projects can commence
That is to say that projects may commence at some point. It’s a step in the right direction I suppose. I probably need a few more bits and pieces sorted out before I can get going, so realistically, after Christmas.
At least, that’s the plan anyway.
And that’s why I’m still annoyed with Brian Whitman
Because he said he would make capers open source and he didn’t. I emailed him for ages and he never got back to me, so I’m annoyed. I’m still annoyed.
If you didn’t know capers was going to be a replacement operating system for Palm devices. An operating system for music and only for music. How awesome would that be?
But even back when it was being developed it never really saw the light of day, and then many years later he said he’d make it open source. But still we wait …
Another kit
One last picture from the Ethometric Museum
More Ethometrics
New toy
I bought this after wanting one for ages and it is a great noise maker to play with. I’m especially looking forward to what I can do with linking it to an Arduino.
