8th Doctor: Caerdroia

Whilst this story is still part of this rather large story arc it wasn’t bad at all really. Some good ideas and 3 doctors! I won’t spoil the story on the off chance you plan to listen to it, but it did lead to a few slightly unexpected twists.

8th Doctor: The Last

The next 8th Doctor story is another good one so far. An interesting story although far from uplifting sadly. Even so, the story arc is slowly moving onwards with each story and I’m sure it’ll get there in the end.

Remembering Elizabeth Sladen today

She would have been 66 years old today. We remember a wonderful actress who made a huge contribution to British Science Fiction and was brilliant in Doctor Who and her own excellent series.

She is missed.

GuitarJack and some experimentation

I’ve been meaning to do this for a while now although I’d wanted to use my iPad 2, but it seems now that it won’t be usable as an input device for some reason. Anyway, I used the GuitarJack in my iPhone 4 and it works very well. Using it with GuitarTone is good too, which I wasn’t expecting as what I wanted to achieve was a non-guitar like sound. I got close enough.

4th Doctor: Destination Nerva

What a great story to start off the 4th Doctor on Big Finish. I really enjoyed this story. A good solid episode which delivered just what I was after. Excellent stuff Big Finish. This is exactly what Doctor Who is all about.

8th Doctor: Scherzo

Well I finished listening to this story today, and I’m both confused and a little disappointed. It didn’t seem to go anywhere at all. There was also way too much stuff about love and all that. I’m not too fond of that kind of thing in Doctor Who. I just think it doesn’t work at all. So I’m a bit wary of going on to the next story in the series.

Pizza, Beer and the Genesis of the Daleks

On Mr Baker’s birthday I thought it would be ideal to watch what is arguably one of the best Doctor Who stories ever. The six part ‘Genesis of the Daleks’, and what better way to watch it than with a pizza and a beer.

These days you just wouldn’t get a story split into 6 parts, but back in 1975 it was perfectly normal. Genesis of the Daleks was a complex story with a lot of characters who come and go throughout the whole six parts. It’s a great story too.

So why didn’t he destroy the Daleks? Well I guess we’re all glad he didn’t right?
