This was one of the things I wanted most to get at Record Store Day this year, and I did. Although I had to get it at Sister Ray, who I thought were really good at organising themselves this year.
It was worth it too. A really good 12″.

Nicely put together album. But of course I’m slightly biased as I’ve been waiting for ages for this to get here. I think I actually ordered it in early December.
Blancmange Semi-Detached comes out today
And I’m really looking forward to listening to it. It’s going to be awesome. I’ve been a fan of Blancmange for years now and it’s been great to see them come back, make new music, play live and still maintain their identity. I really enjoyed the single from the album, so I’m hoping the rest is just as good.
I’m sure it will be.

Ok, it’s a bit odd, but then what else would I expect from Blancmange? It’s a good sign that the album will have lots of interesting things to listen to and ponder over.

It’s nearly time for their new album to be out, and now here’s a single too. I couldn’t help myself but buy it, and now I’m really looking forward to listening to it repeatedly for a while.

This has only just been re-released, and from what I hear it isn’t indicative of what Blancmange went on to do later, but I did feel compelled to get a copy. I haven’t played it as yet, but it won’t be long and we’ll see (or rather hear) what it’s like.
Happy Families Too ..
So I’ve been listening to this for about a week and I have to say that it’s great. Whilst all of the tracks are clearly recognisable as the original songs they are of course very different from the original versions, and that’s good. Also Neil’s voice is different too. It’s a great album and I’m looking forward to hearing the remix album coming out next year.
