Goodbye Mutable Instruments

I read this on CDM the other day and it made me think about when Bhajis Loops came to an end. If you were unaware, Bhajis Loops was an application for the PalmOS that was the nearest thing to a DAW for Palm devices. It lasted for some years, but, like all things, it came to an end. It’s creator went on to start Mutable Instruments, which has been infinitely more successful.

But the closing of Mutable made me wonder what, if anything, might be next. Of course the simplest answer is nothing at all, and that is entirely possible. In fact I’m not suggesting that anything will follow. However, if it does then I think it will be entirely unexpected.

Punchdrunk, part 1.

Originally I wanted to release Punchdrunk as a collection of 60 1 minute songs which described a single fictitious day in a person’s life. However, I’ve never finished all the songs. So I’ve decided to release it in a series of batches.

The first batch is 20 instrumental tracks, which would have been the first 20 songs on the whole album.

After this I’ll release another two batches of instrumentals and then finally a collection of the actual songs that I did finish.

These tracks were made with Bhajis loops on a Palm PDA, a Tungsten T3, Zire 72, Tungsten E and a Song Clie NX73V.

Here come the short waves …

Some more new (old) music from me that I still haven’t finished and now don’t intend to. This short collection of tracks is probably even less polished than the previous, but it is something I really liked the idea of, but just didn’t finish off in the end.

I hope you enjoy it. Just remember, it isn’t finished at all!

A couple of things for Bhajis users

If you don’t use Bhajis Loops then please ignore this. For a long time I’ve had these two additional Bhajis Loops effects plug ins which I think are the only two ever made which weren’t created by Olivier. Anyway, the site they were on has gone now, but I thought I’d make them available for anyone who is using Bhajis Loops still.

You can find them here.
