Tom Baker coming to Big Finish

I was really tempted to pre-order the new Tom Baker series of stories that are coming from Big Finish. Then I read a post at Tom Baker’s blog which said that they aren’t due to be released until Jan 2012!

I had really thought that they would be out much sooner, but I guess I have no option but to wait, and I’m sure that they’ll be really good. Still, I had hoped that these stories would come sooner.

Goodbye Sarah-Jane

When I heard about Elisabeth Sladen’s untimely death it took a while to sink in, but when reading about her in the countless tributes that have been written in the last couple of days I find myself immensely moved by her passing.

I’ve always been a fan of Doctor Who and especially Tom Baker’s Doctor. Her role as a companion and then her later excellent spin off series are fantastic and it is such a shame that there will be no more.

She will be missed by many across a wide spectrum of ages.

The world is a less vibrant place now.

Listening to Bourne

I really liked the Bourne films, all three, so much so that I thought I’d try and listen to the following stories as audiobooks. I’ve started with the Bourne Legacy. So far it isn’t bad, but when I started I didn’t like it much at all.

The book is a lot slower that the films, which is understandable of course, but it is quite slow actually, and very complex. I’ll see this book through until the end and then decide if I’m going to have a go at any of the others. There are about 6 books that come after the main action of the films, so there’s plenty to listen to.

Battle for the Planet of the Apes

So I’ve finished watching all the films now. I really enjoyed seeing them all in sequence, that was really good, they make a lot of sense when you take them like that.

My favourite is still ‘Conquest’, and for the most part I’d forgotten ‘Battle’. When it started it came back to me again. It did seem a little half hearted though as an ending to the series of films which was a little bit of a shame.

But I still have the documentary DVD to watch and I might do that over the weekend.
