Tron Legacy
I’ve watched the film a couple of times and it’s ok. But the soundtrack really is quite excellent and listening to it on and off for the last week or so I’ve got really quite into it. So much so that I think I might have to see the film again.
Beer of the day
Haven’t had a porter for ages, and this one was lovely.
Another lovely find
The trouble with Android
I keep thinking about getting a decent Android device, but I never quite get around to it. The main reason being the enormous differences in devices and costs. In some ways I think the whole iOS device scene has it easy. There really isn’t much to choose from and you know what will work on what device.
But in Android land it is very different indeed. Not only are there far more screen sizes, but you have to worry about which kind of device will get an update to which next version of the Android OS. It’s confusing, and that’s not good when you’re spending a few hundred pounds on something.
Sometimes I wonder if I should bother. Maybe I should stick to iOS, but I keep coming back to Android on a regular basis, so maybe I should give it another look. It just feels like it’s going to cost money and by a let down though.
The Unknown Public
I found all my copies of the Unknown Public today. I’d forgotten about them for the most part, so I may decide to re-listen to the entire collection from January.
I wish that the Unknown Public hadn’t finished. It was such a good idea. It was meant to be a quarterly publication about new music. I don’t think it ever managed to be quarterly. At best you might see 2 a year published. It started in the 1990’s and is long gone now although the website still exists. As far as I can see it hasn’t been updated in a long time now, but never mind. The editions I have are still lovely.
Flumina
I’ve been listening to Flumina by Sakamoto Fennesz for a couple of weeks now, or maybe a bit less. I really love how peaceful this album is. How restful. I love the music that Fennesz and Sakamoto make. It’s a great combination and each new release has it’s own nuance.
Dolby Disappointment
I caved in and bought Thomas Dolby’s latest album, ‘A Map of the Floating City’. I’d been considering it for a while as the last gig of his I went to was a real disappointment. So I listened to the new album today, and I have to say that it too was a big disappointment. There were a couple of not bad tracks, but on the whole I thought it was poor.
What a shame.
Snow Problem!
Well it’s snowing in Surrey this morning, or at least it was and almost certainly there’ll be problems with travel as a result. Some times I wish it would either be real heavy snow which looks lovely or nothing. Let’s see how it goes.
Finished Serpent Crest
It was a great story and I really enjoyed it. fantastic stuff. I’m so looking forward to the new Big Finish seasons that come out in January. The sooner the better in fact, although I hope that I do hope that there’s another one of these 5 part stories again at some point.
