Some pictures of Nijmegen

I only spent a day here but it seemed to me to be a nice little town with some really interested buildings, mainly due to the post war reconstruction I guess. It was cold whilst I was there, but bright and sunny and a good time to walk around this town with an old friend.

Antwerp Central Station

It was a lovely place. An amazing building for a station. It’s just a bit of a shame that I wasn’t at my best as I passed through it.

Some pictures from Antwerp

Whilst I was only in Antwerp for a few days I did enjoy it and it seemed liked a great city and a it has 5000 pubs / bars. Now that’s worth going to right?

A visit to Turing Fest

I really wanted to get along to something at Turing Fest this year and as I was in Edinburgh I was able to. It was a bit of a stretch though as I was leaving on the day that Turing Fest started. Anyway, I got along for a session on the first day. The session was about aligning the interests of investors and entrepreneurs. Whilst it was largely based around the Edinburgh start up scene I learnt a lot about the venture capital process itself and how VCs and angel investors look at start ups.

I wish I could have stuck around for more of the sessions, but that wasn’t possible sadly. Maybe next year.

King’s Cross, only better

When I went up to Edinburgh this year for the festival I was really impressed by just how good the new King’s Cross station is. I always remember the station as cramped and unpleasant, and that’s what it was last year when I went up to the festival, but this year it is transformed!

What an improvement.

Google Web Lab

I was really looking forward to seeing this exhibition at the Science Museum, but it wasn’t all I’d hoped it would be. I suppose that in many ways it wasn’t geared towards me at all, but an audience for whom a web based sequencer would be completely fresh idea.
