Further thoughts on Spotify

Well, I have well and truly stepped into the 21st Century now. I’m quite enjoying spotify and finding it works well. I can still myself buying a few things, but probably nowhere near as much from now on.

Is this a good thing? I’m not sure. After only just about a week I think it’s too early to give a complete verdict. Although it’s been a very positive experience so far I think. For me the most positive thing is having spotify on my iPhone, although I’d quite like a proper iPad app too.

Zodiac is up and running!

I finally managed to get a charger for my Zodiac 2, and it works just fine! I’ve had a very brief try out with the onboard sound card and that too works just fine. I’m looking forward to getting it fully loaded.

Finished listening to Shada

So I finished listening to the 10 CD version of Shada narrated by Lalla Ward. It was a good version. There’s certainly more detail in this version than the Big Finish version, although partly that’s because it’s narrated rather than a dramatised version.

On the whole though, I do prefer the Big Finish version with Paul McGann. Not because it’s a dramatised version, although I think that brings it to life far better as a story. But because I think that they just did it much better by shortening it to something more like the length it would have been if it had actually been televised. Let’s not forget that it was meant to be on TV in 25 minute episodes, and not a 10 hour narrated story.

Anyway, I’m glad I heard this version, and I’m glad I’ve got both now. I might even by the book when the paperback comes out.

Sunvox 1.7 arrives

I’ve been a fan of Sunvox since the very first version I ran on my Treo under Palm OS. That was over 4 years ago now. It has come a long way since then, and the latest version is really amazing, with lots of new features and especially live recording.

More thoughts about Spotify

So, about a week into my trial of Spotify and I have to say that I’m really enjoying it. It is very useful as a way to check out music I wouldn’t have otherwise heard. I’m not sure that I’m ready to make the full plunge to not buying music at all though. That might be just a bit too far for me to go at the moment.

App revisit: LoopXtreme

Another app that I always thought was a little overlooked and had a lot of potential. One of the problems with it was that it was quite complicated to get to grips with. Perhaps that’s why it didn’t get the attention it deserved.

I’m giving it another go though.

Some thoughts on listening to InGladAloneness

Having got the CD I listened to these few last tracks by Mick Karn and Dalis Car. It felt strange to hear his work. The tracks are very good. Very Dalis Car, in keeping with the first album which has always been a favourite for me.

I think I’ll need to listen to the tracks a few more times though to really get into them and get used to them if that makes sense.

Halfway through Shada

I’ve been really enjoying listening to Shada the unabridged version. Although it is a lot slower than the big finish version and it isn’t a full cast piece, it is very good, and well worth a listen if you’re into Doctor Who.
