Star Trek: A piece of the action

One of my all time favourite episodes, it’s excellent and very unusual for Star Trek, but lots of fun. I’m really enjoying the re-runs of Star Trek. Apart from seeing lots of episodes that I love there’s also quite a few that I’ve never seen, or at least that I can’t remember.

Ironclad

This was a strange film, at once very violent and also very slow. It had a very promising cast though and a story that wasn’t dull on the face of it, but even with all that it just didn’t seem to go anywhere really. Which seemed to be a shame.

The Trouble with Tribbles

One of the most famous Star Trek episodes. Yes, it’s funny, yes, it’s a bit silly, but it is a huge classic, and it can’t be ignored. After all, it inspired follow up episodes in the animated series and in the Deep Space 9.

It’s awesome.

Laurel Halo, Quarantine

I listened to this album for the first time today. It has an interesting structure and some great textures and sounds to it. I think I’ll probably need to listen to it a few more times to get into it, but it most certainly has my attention.

When I’ve digested it further I’ll write some more about it.

A brief look at Samsung’s Galaxy SIII

I visited the O2 store and had a little play with Samsung’s SIII. My first impression was that it was very big, very big indeed. In fact, my iPhone 4 only just covers the screen of the SIII. But that sort of put me off a bit. It was so large that I wasn’t sure if I actually would get used to it.

Aside from size it has a very nice feel to it, but of course it is Android, and I’m still very much on the fence about a jump from iOS to Android. Of course, that could all change when iOS6 gets announced on Monday, we’ll have to see.

Listening to Grimes

So I’ve listened to 3 of Grimes’ albums and so far the one I really like is the last one, Visions. I really have enjoyed listening to that one, a lot. I hope that she keeps on making more albums like Visions.

Doctor Who: The Trail of the White Worm

I finally got to listen to the rest of this story, which is really good. Great to have the Master back again in a 4th Doctor story, and Unit and the Brigadier mentioned as well. It doesn’t get much better than that, and it’s great to hear Geoffrey Beevers as the Master, especially as he played the Master in the Keeper of Traken (one of my favourite stories).

Also, it’s a 2 part story! Excellent. Except that I have to wait for the second part to be delivered.

A new Imagined Village album

I didn’t know that they had a new album out, and more than that, I had no idea that they’d released an another album after their first! I’m really out of touch on this aren’t I. Still, never mind. I just need to catch a little with what they’ve been up to.
