I had one, and yet, I still want one

But I have to ask why? It isn’t like there’s anything you can do with a ZX81 that I can’t do elsewhere, and so I constantly battle with myself, sometimes wanting to get one, and other times deciding that it really is a bad idea and I just wouldn’t use it, and that is really a lot closer to the truth as that happens with stuff I buy, I’m sorry to say.

I also sometimes think about some of the things I could do with one, and then try and use an emulator, and don’t really get into that and that also tells me that getting an actual ZX81 would be a bad idea. Even though I think they’re awesome.

One of my favourite songs of all time

In fact, probably my absolute favourite of all time. I saw this the other week in a second hand record shop and realised that I’m not sure that I’d ever owned the 7″ version. I have the 12″, the album in so many formats, but not the 7″. Up until now that is. Now I have it, albeit a second hand copy that cost me £1.

It is what it is. A great song however you obtain it.

Listening to Greg Haines

Since seeing him live at Denovali Festival at the weekend I’ve been interested to hear his recorded output. So I found him on Spotify and had a listen. Well, I’ve been really enjoying his album ‘Where we were’. I’m fairly sure that a lot of that is what he was playing at the Festival.

I think I could really get into this actually. It has nice way of evolving from one track to another and flowing subtly. It also has quite cinematic overtones too, which I enjoy a lot. So I think I may have to listen to some more of his back catalogue on Spotify and hear what else he’s done. So far so good.

I’ve been a fan of this music app for years now, and I found this photo that I’d taken of it running on three different devices simultaneously. I still use it a lot for making tracks on my iPhone, so I must get back to using it on Windows Mobile soon. It’ll be interesting to see how different it is or isn’t.
