I took this picture a few years ago after a trip to the Beyond the Border storytelling festival. The beach nearby is wonderful with some truly amazing rock formations. It’s very peaceful.

An afternoon looking at the sea …
Staying in a beautiful house boat and spending at least a small part of a Sunday afternoon listening to music and not doing anything else at all.
Bliss, sheer bliss.
Makes me realise how much more intently I should listen. After all, listening is an art. Listening is important, and I should do more of it, a lot more.

4th Doctor: Suburban Hell
I have to say that this story is complete genius. I loved every minute of it. It was a joy to listen to as the writing is just awesome. It really does hark back to the best of the fourth doctor. Well worth a listen in my view. In fact, this whole series has been brilliant. I don’t think that there has been a poor episode in there at all.

Wishing that Unknown Public was still a thing

But it isn’t and hasn’t been for a long time now, which is such a shame. It was such an interesting idea and such a good package. Of course it was in a time before music discovery on the internet was a thing. Before Spotify was a thing. Back then, stuff like Unknown Public (although there wasn’t really anything like it) was a really good way to discover new music, new artists. It worked like that for me.
So in many ways it doesn’t have a place in terms of today’s music world, but I think we’re poorer for it. A lot of the enjoyment from Unknown public was in how it was put together. The beauty of the package and its contents. You can’t make that on the internet. Maybe someone should try.
The beauty of the Ototo board

What a lovely thing. I’m so glad that I kickstarted it. I’ve been using it quite a bit recently and it’s great for just making interesting contraptions, and for tinkering, but best of all for having fun.
What else is there?
Survivors series two is coming next week
I’m really looking forward to this. It’s been a long time coming. Well a year to be precise. I think I’ve listened to the first series a couple of times since it came out, but I’m hoping to get to listen to the whole of it again before series 2 emerges next week, just so I’ve got the story clear in my memory.
It maybe overkill a little, but I don’t mind that kind of thing really.
From Arduino comes Genuino
I had one, and yet, I still want one
But I have to ask why? It isn’t like there’s anything you can do with a ZX81 that I can’t do elsewhere, and so I constantly battle with myself, sometimes wanting to get one, and other times deciding that it really is a bad idea and I just wouldn’t use it, and that is really a lot closer to the truth as that happens with stuff I buy, I’m sorry to say.
I also sometimes think about some of the things I could do with one, and then try and use an emulator, and don’t really get into that and that also tells me that getting an actual ZX81 would be a bad idea. Even though I think they’re awesome.
