Still buying vinyl

There are a handful of tracks that are on a list, the kind of list you know somehow you’ll never get to the end of. For me it’s a list of tracks I had once and now I’ve no idea where they are, so I have to get them again. This EP from Toyah is one. It has a track on it called Urban Tribesman, which I really loved, but it just doesn’t seem to be available on download or on a CD anywhere.

So I decided that with this, and with many other tracks that I’m outstanding, I will have to get them on vinyl. You know what, it’s quite nice to be buying vinyl again.

Pebble is shipping …

It’s great news. It couldn’t be soon enough. I know that they’ll take a while to get them out to everyone, and that I shouldn’t expect it too soon, but it’s exciting nonetheless. Of course, the one thing that is missing at the moment is the iPhone app on the app store.

I hope that it gets here before my pebble does.

Doctor Who and the invasion of the dinosaurs

I only got this because it was part of a boxed set with the Android Invasion. The special effects are very far from special, but the story was excellent. Sadly it makes me wonder about collecting Jon Pertwee stories now!

Happy birthday Mr Baker

Can you believe that Tom Baker is 79! That’s amazing, completely amazing. I was just listening to him today, talking at the end of the latest Big Finish CD. He doesn’t sound 79 at all.

I hope he keeps on doing lots more audio stories.

Still watching this and realising that it’s excellent stuff. The stories are of a really high quality.

The Android Invasion

This is a great Tom Baker story, and one that I needed to add to my collection. It’s part of a two story boxed set called “The Unit Files” as both of the stories feature UNIT quiet heavily. Great stuff though.

I so enjoy these earlier stories. They take their time to unfold and get going and there is much more emphasis on the science fiction.

Well worth a watch if you get the chance.

UFO

I got the boxed set of UFO (from the 70’s) for Christmas, and I started watching them tonight, but I wasn’t ready for just how 1970’s they’d be! Of course, you can’t judge a 1970’s production by today’s standards in anyway at all, it just isn’t fair, but it makes you realise what we take for granted in so many aspects of television.

Anyway, it’s a great show, and I love the theme tune too. As I watch them I’ll probably comment some more about the show. In fact, I probably won’t be able to help myself!
