It’s good to hear that Neil Arthur is doing even more music. Hot on the heals of the latest Blancmange album ‘Commuter 23’ (I’m still listening to it and thinking about how I feel about it), he’s into a new musical exploit called ‘Near Future’. I just missed out on getting a signed CD of their first single, which was annoying. Never mind. I’ll have to wait for it to come out later in the month.

Whatever happened to Ian Craig Marsh?
I’ve been a fan of Heaven 17 for years and years, and I’ve really enjoyed their recent shows but it does make me think of a few things, one of which is, whatever happened to Ian Craig Marsh? He was a big part of Heaven 17 and of course The Human League before that, but now, according to Wikipedia, he’s a music teacher. No more information than that.
That’s fine, but a shame for fans on H17.

“This is Marilyn Reed, I want to talk to you…is this a machine? I don’t talk to machines.”
This will distract you for a few minutes
Although I think that typedrummer could probably distract you for a not inconsiderable length of time. It is fun though, so I thought I’d mention it.
Goodbye Admiral Ackbar
Well it really is sad to hear that Erik Bauersfeld has passed away at the great age of 93. That’s impressive. He’s responsible for delivering my favourite line in Star Wars “It’s a trap!”. I always thought that Admiral Ackbar was a great character, not just for that line of course.
So goodbye Admiral, and goodbye Erik. You will be missed.

“This is Thelma Sue Bigsley. It’s about the research I called you about, family tree. Did you talk to your daddy? We may be kin.”
You need to be of a certain age to get this
Pebble woes

So my latest update to the firmware on my Pebble Time wasn’t quite so successful it seems. In fact it took a little while to get the thing up and running again. I have no idea why, but it probably took around 30 minutes by the time I’d sorted it out, which was a little annoying really.
I’m hoping that this isn’t the shape of things to come from my Pebble and that it’ll go back to being reliable after this.

“This is Shirley from the bank. The answers are: no, no, and yes. No, we won’t loan you money. No, we won’t accept any co-signers; and yes, your account’s overdrawn. I get off at four-thirty.”

“Hey, Jim, it’s me. Susan Ellis from the laundromat. You said you were going to call and it’s been two weeks. What’s wrong, you lose my number?”
