I love music. Making music, listening, talking about it and anything else too.
DopplerPad used to be one of the most used apps on my iPhone, but I haven’t used it for a while now. I started it up again today, and it is still a useful musical tool. I quite liked the way it’s workflow runs, and I like it, it fits for me.
I hope that one day the Retronyms will update it, but until then I think I might use it a bit more from now on.
So says the ever wonderful Modern DJ, so it’s worth putting the date in your diary if that’s your sort of thing anyway.
I started on some new stuff in Jasuto Pro today, taking a sample made up in RealBeat and using it as a basis for a scene or patch or whatever it’s called in Jasuto. I do love the app, it has so many possibilities.
More messing around with Mixtikl again, and tweeting the odd mix too. Interesting to get back into this app and start to do a few things that are a little more complex. It’s the kind of music app that satisfies on all levels. You can generate something immediate using the random function, or spend as much time as you like to create something completely unique.
Aurora Sound Studio has been around for a while. First on Windows Mobile and now on iOS. It’s a great music making app, and one that I’ve too long overlooked. So I went back to it this morning, albeit briefly, and was surprised to find some nice stuff in there that I must have made ages ago.
It’s always nice to get a little surprise like that and remember (or not remember) tracks partially made and sitting around just waiting for you to rediscover them.
I was playing with Grid Music this morning and what a great app it is. I’ll put up a little track I made soon.
I posted this to instagram earlier, but I liked it so much that I thought I’d put it here too.
I’m really getting into Mixtikl now, and the new visualiser in the latest version is good too, although I haven’t got the hang of the words as yet.
I got MixPad (Palm OS MIDI player / mixer) onto my 3G a few days ago, but I only got some MIDI files loaded today. The results? Excellent. MixPad used the KriKit audio engine and played files back just fine.
I’ve been continuing to listen to Mick Karn’s albums over the last few days. The first two are really the ones I love the most, and his work after that was interesting but I didn’t enjoy it as much with one or two exceptions.
Having said that it’s been really good to listen to his work again and enjoy it together as a complete body of work. I think there’s a lot to be said for that, and this might become an annual occurrence.
