Another older app that I admit hasn’t been used too much for a while now. It is a good app, with lots of possibilities, but again, it hasn’t seen an update for a while, and for that matter YUDO haven’t done an update for a long time on any of their music apps.
Category: Mobile Applications
I’m a big fan of mobile applications. It started with the Palm OS and Windows Mobile, and has continued with iOS and Android. Who knows where mobile apps will go to next, it’s a journey, and an interesting one at that. If you’re looking for more on mobile apps then also check out the menu sections for pages on specific apps and things I’ve done with them.
App revisit: Toro Mini
Toro Mini is a real fav of an app. I love the sounds it makes and how simple it is to work with. There was some talk about there being an iPad version too, but that hasn’t surfaced as yet. Shame really, it would be nice to see if get some updates.
App revisit: Noise IO Pro Synth
Noise IO Pro is arguably the first synth for the iPhone/Touch. It’s still pretty amazing to this day. Amidio haven’t done anything with it for a long time, although I thought there was a suggestion that they were going to issue an HD version or an update of some kind. Still, it’s worth remembering this app as a real groundbreaking event in mobile music history.
App revisit: MoBeat
App revisit: Yonac – miniSynth and MegaSynth
Yonac’s miniSynth was one of the first synth apps I had on my 1st generation iPod Touch. It was a massive step forward, and when they brought out megaSynth it was even better. I still love Yonac’s apps, they’re up there with the best in my opinion.
New Mixtikl interface
Software that I have enjoyed for quite a few years now in various guises and on various platforms. The latest version of the interface is big step forward, and the app, well, as far as making music goes it is amazing, there’s nothing more that can be said about it really.
Tabletop 1.4
Just a quick mention of the latest version of Tabletop. It’s awesome. That’s all.
The Retronyms are amazing, their work just gets better and better.
techBASIC 2.0
I only just found out about this universal app. It looks really amazing as a BASIC programming environment, but most interesting of all is how it integrates with HiJack, which has grabbed my attention.
The app isn’t cheap though at £10.49, and the HiJack is $79 too, so I’m not diving in straight away, at least not for the HiJack. The app looks good though.
App revisit: Sir Sampleton
Sir Sampleton is a great little sampling app that’s got a nice interface and just does the job really well.
App revisit: Euno Synth
This was a great idea for a synth app, and had a very clean interface, but it was really hard to get to grips with it. By the time you’d set the synth controls and moved to the keys page you couldn’t tell what the sound would be like. It didn’t make sense from there really.
It was a shame really. It hasn’t seen an update for a long time now either.
