I’m a big fan of mobile applications. It started with the Palm OS and Windows Mobile, and has continued with iOS and Android. Who knows where mobile apps will go to next, it’s a journey, and an interesting one at that. Let the experimentation with Griff begin
I had an idea the other day about how to use Griff studio in combination with other gear. I’ve no idea if it will work or be useful, but it’s worth trying out for fun if nothing else.
Why is there a baby hedgehog in this PDA?
And more to the point, what does it do? Good question. Well it was a demo app from what was to be a replacement OS for the Palm PDA. Sadly it never came to anything, but I still have the demo apps/applets that were around and every now and then I get one of them going to try and remember what it is that they actually do.
Baby hedgehog is a lot like that. Every time I come to use it I can’t really remember what it is that is does.
I still wish that there had been a replacement OS for Palm which was just for music, but that’s never going to happen now sadly. But if you want to know more about Capers, look here.
That Tweakybeat screen
I really do like tweakybeat, and one of the reasons that isn’t obvious is that it is really straightforward and simple to use. The interface is completely no nonsense.
If you don’t know it, then you should.
I wish I could build a drum machine like this.
Nanoloop work in progress
Another work in progress piece. I find it interesting that different music apps make you work in different ways and inspire different musical styles. I really should try doing something radically different with Nanoloop. Perhaps with the next track.
Some tweakybeat
I hadn’t used this little app since the update that allowed recording, so I decided to record a little random tweakybeatness for no real reason.
Another Palm OS app that I never finished: SliderOn
This app never really worked as intended. I should’ve finished it off really, but I didn’t and I’m not sure that it will get finished now. We’ll see.
I think there was also a video I made of this ages ago, I’ll see if I can find it and share it.
Finding old Palm OS apps I’d started to make
In reviving the Tungsten C I discovered an SD card that I must have forgotten about. It had a load of test builds of Palm OS apps that I started years ago and never finished, but it’s interesting to go back and look at them. A few are even partially functional too.
What I love to see is the icons I made for them. My favourite being tDrum2, sQeeQ, and SliderOn in the picture above. Of these only one actually works, but I’ll take more pictures of the apps and show you what I mean. More soon.

There’s a Microbe in my 3G
Now I’ve got the excellent Microbe running under StyleTap on my old iPhone 3G. Of course, the original version of Microbe was built to run on a much less powerful device, so in theory it should do quite well. Next I need to get the big one up and running.
