Doctor Who: Memory Lane
Listened to this just now. Not a bad story, certainly not the best, and I think that the companion combination is starting to get a little stale now. I’m hoping that the 8th doctor will move on in the coming stories.
Star Trek: A piece of the action
One of my all time favourite episodes, it’s excellent and very unusual for Star Trek, but lots of fun. I’m really enjoying the re-runs of Star Trek. Apart from seeing lots of episodes that I love there’s also quite a few that I’ve never seen, or at least that I can’t remember.
The Trouble with Tribbles
One of the most famous Star Trek episodes. Yes, it’s funny, yes, it’s a bit silly, but it is a huge classic, and it can’t be ignored. After all, it inspired follow up episodes in the animated series and in the Deep Space 9.
It’s awesome.
Doctor Who: Something Inside
Not the most wonderful of stories for the 8th Doctor. This one was ok, not the best, but ok. I get the feeling that it would have worked better if it was on TV.
Doctor Who: The Trail of the White Worm
I finally got to listen to the rest of this story, which is really good. Great to have the Master back again in a 4th Doctor story, and Unit and the Brigadier mentioned as well. It doesn’t get much better than that, and it’s great to hear Geoffrey Beevers as the Master, especially as he played the Master in the Keeper of Traken (one of my favourite stories).
Also, it’s a 2 part story! Excellent. Except that I have to wait for the second part to be delivered.
Cyberman: Part 1 – Scorpius
Another spin off Doctor Who story from Big Finish. I bought a handful of these to try them out, and this one is really quite good. Much darker than most Doctor Who stories though, quite contemplative as well.
I’m enjoying it. I may well follow this one up.
Doctor Who: The Trail of the White Worm
I only just realised that I hadn’t actually listened to this 4th Doctor story as yet. It’s been sitting on a shelf, un-listened to since it arrived. So I’m putting that right immediately.
Prometheus
So I’ve seen it now. It was an obvious choice to go and see, and I’ve read a lot of the chatter about the ending and how can it be a real prequel etc. Well, I enjoyed it, and that’s about all I really think I need to say. It was an interesting film, some good concepts and a story that in some ways sets the scene for the Alien films, but doesn’t answer all your questions.
I think that’s best, because you never know, there might just be another Alien prequel coming too.
Big Finish: Gallifrey
I mentioned that I was going to try out some of the spin off series from Big Finish. I’ve listened to the first episode of this, and it isn’t bad. Lalla Ward and Louise Jameson don’t do a bad job of carrying this story very well.
Quite enjoyable really. I’ll seriously consider getting the next one, in a while anyway.
