I still love his work and it’s such a huge shame that he isn’t around to make any more of it. Happy Birthday Douglas Adams. It was good to see the google doodle about you.
The next elements: Infrared Distance Sensor
I’ve posted about the molecule synth ‘table of elements‘ before. It’s such a great idea with some great molecules / elements to come. But I thought I’d dwell on a few of them just to mention the ones I really am excited about.
I’m not quite sure what the infrared distance sensor will actually do, but I can tell you what I’d like it to do at some point in the future, or indeed when it first arrives.
I’d love to be able to use the infrared to receive an infrared signal from a Nebulophone, or even a Palm OS PDA. The output could be as an LFO or other controller.
I hope it’ll be the first or one of the first to be launched.
Using Makey Makey to control Spotify
A few first steps with the Makey Makey. I’d like to use this with some music stuff, we’ll see how that goes.

This is another automation app that I got that without really knowing what I was going to use it for. However, it’s been updated and added a load of new stuff. Here’s what they loaded it up with:
- In-app messaging actions — group messaging and preset text
- In-app email actions — attach last photo taken or attach photo from the clipboard
- Clipboard actions — place text on clipboard, place last photo on clipboard, convert text on clipboard, and x-callback-url support
- Expanded Text Expander support — snippets can now be expanded automatically while launching an action
- New Tweet action — tweet last photo taken
- Reorganized Action Composer
So that all looks really cool. However, having dug around in there for a bit longer I’m still none the wiser about how I can use this in a constructive way! I’d really like to find ways to make use of this automation, although there isn’t a huge amount of automation available. It is still at the periphery. Still, I want to give it a go and see if I can make any active use of it.
Those spacers are a little bit too short
Cutting corners by trying to use spare parts never really works out, and this time it really didn’t. Never mind. So I need to get some new spacers I guess …
