Things are going on all the time!, This category is about things I’ve been to or sometimes would have liked to have been to. Also, it’s about events I’m a part of or have had some hand in running.

Seeing the Pukes at Under the Bridge

This was last Sunday at Under the Bridge in Fulham. A really nice venue, I’ve always liked going there for gigs. This is one I went to last year as well. The same venue, the same line up, and close to the same date too.
I do enjoy the Pukes, I’ve never listened to their stuff except for live, so this year I’m going to try something different and listen to their recorded stuff to.
SoundLab Play Space: Studio Amplify

These guys are pretty amazing actually. I’ve been following their NOiZE app for a long time now and it’s nearly ready for prime time. I’m glad to have been a part of the journey that they’ve been on and I’m pleased that they were able to be SoundLab’s Play Space event at NESTA last month.

A new album coming from Blancmange next yeaar
This is excellent news. I’m really pleased that they’re making music. I’ve enjoyed the last few things they’ve done and gone to see the tours each year since they started back. So the new album will be called Commuter 23. I’m looking forward to it, and to their tour too.
Another nice write up of the SoundLab Play Space
Disability Arts Online have a really nice piece on their site about the SoundLab Play Space event. They did a job of focusing in on what we were trying to achieve, and also raised some good questions which will probably need to be asked and thought through.
The SoundLab Play Space, that’s it for now

I think I’ve probably posted all of the individual posts I’m going to now about the Play Space. It was an amazing day and I think it well really well overall. Hopefully we’ll do something like this again in the not too distant future.
If you want to see all of the post about it you can click on the tag SoundLab (just click here).
SoundLab Play Space: SubPac

I’ve known about SubPac for some time. I think I saw them at a Roli event I was speaking at last year. I thought it was a great idea but I’d never had a chance to try it out, that is not until the SoundLab Play Space event. I have to say that I was really impressed with it. It feels amazing, totally amazing. I think it’s really had to put into words what it’s like as it is really a feeling and an experience and as such it’s difficult to translate it into words.
However, if you ever get a chance to try one out then I’d strongly suggest you do.
So we’re going to OMD!
OMD are playing the Royal Albert Hall next May, and I’ve got tickets. They’re going to play Dazzle Ships and Architecture and Morality too. Dazzle Ships was one of their more experimental albums but actually one of the ones I liked the most. I thought it was a really interesting album and I’ve always enjoyed it.
So I’m looking forward to seeing them live again, but it’s a long time to wait.
