Something from Beyond The Border. I saw this in the blue garden this weekend. Beautiful. But then, that’s what you expect form Beyond the Border. So glad I went this year again.

Things are going on all the time!, This category is about things I’ve been to or sometimes would have liked to have been to. Also, it’s about events I’m a part of or have had some hand in running.
Been to Beyond the Border
Music day at Exhibition Road
I was around Exhibition Road for part of Music day this year. I missed it the last time it was on, so I was glad to be able to go this year. I managed to catch a few musical moments, one of which was a performance of a piece that was inspired by the hall of the modern world in the Science Museum.
It wasn’t bad at all. Quite ponderous and slow and thoughtful, but I enjoyed it a lot in the end. I’m glad I went, and I hope that music day keeps going, it certainly made it a more interesting trip.
Blancmange last night
Music Tech Fest
Having been at music tech fest at the weekend I’ve been thinking a lot about mobile music again, and about Palm Sounds again too. There was so much talk about the mobile space it was unreal, and a growing amount talked about in terms of mobile music creation, to a degree anyway.
It revives a number of thoughts and themes that have been going through my head for a while now, and I’m wondering what to do about these ideas.
The British Design Exhibition at the V&A
I heard about this a few weeks ago and was attracted to it because of the stuff connected to Factory Records, but actually there was loads more there. In fact there’s almost too much in this exhibition, and not enough, it that makes any sense at all.
It almost leaves you wanting lots more in every category. I loved the mini, but then wanted to see a load more vintage and classic cars, and the Jag was great I have to admit. The games stuff and the ZX Spectrum just fueled my craving for a Speccy and a ZX81.
I can see myself visiting this exhibition again in a few weeks as there’s too much to take in with one visit. But it’s well worth a look as is the V&A as a whole.
That was a good day
I found this badge in my coat pocket. It was from the Music 4.5 conference I was at and spoke at. I really enjoyed the event and there was a lot of very interesting information shared there, but I think most of all I enjoyed the people.
So it was good to remember the day when I pulled this out of my pocket and thought about some of the things I might do as a result.
London to Brighton, the Veteran Car Rally
This year was the first time I actually helped out (sort of) with the veteran car rally. It’s an awesome event, and I’ve watched it to a greater or lesser degree for years and years now. This year for the first time I got a programme as well. In fact I didn’t even know that there were programmes for the rally.
I got a few half decent photos, or at least photos I think are half decent and I’ll post them soon enough, but I really liked this one a lot.
