Lost Microbes …

I posted this picture on instagram yesterday. I was having a great time playing with Microbe on my old Treo 650. Then suddenly, all the files disappeared. Which was a bit of a shame as I hadn’t played any of them for ages, and one or two I thought were actually worth saving.

I’ve no idea if anything can be done to recover them, I guess I’ll have to have a nose around the old forum to see if there’s anything there that helps. If not, well, that’s a shame.

That was a good day

I found this badge in my coat pocket. It was from the Music 4.5 conference I was at and spoke at. I really enjoyed the event and there was a lot of very interesting information shared there, but I think most of all I enjoyed the people.

So it was good to remember the day when I pulled this out of my pocket and thought about some of the things I might do as a result.

I love the fact that someone made a Palm Sounds version of their app to celebrate when Palm Sounds was 5 years old. I really love the original Sprak app and this one is just as good, and reminds me that Palm Sounds was a really good thing and helped to create a lot of buzz around mobile music.

VL-1 Arrived

I had a VL-1 when they first came out, but I got rid of them. I wish I hadn’t. So I’ve finally got around to getting a new one, or rather a second hand one that is. It’s a little grubby but I think it’ll be quite easy to get cleaned up. Once that’s done, my plan is to MIDIfy it. I’ll let you know how that goes.

Playing with Android Inventor: A very simple drum pad

I mentioned before that I’ve been playing with Android inventor now that it’s on MIT’s servers. The first thing I tried to do with it was to make something vaguely musical. Well, ok, not that musical to be honest. I thought I’d try and do something like a little drum pad to start with.

It works, sort of, but it really isn’t too useful sadly, as the drum sound only triggers when you take your finger off the button and not when you press it. So I really need a new way of getting that to work.
