It’s a fairly rare MIDI kit for a Casio VL-1. I’m not building it myself, it’s just too fidly, but I have some plans to be able to use a VL-1 over MIDI. We’ll see where that goes.

One of the classic keyboards made to get more people making music. It was one of these that inspired me. In fact I had two of them originally. I loved them both.
New (old) vinyl: Trio – Da Da Da
As I have a VL-1 and as I’ve even gone as far as releasing my own VL-1 bot I just had to pick this up really. I didn’t have the vinyl version before this, but now I have!
Then I found my old VL-1 MIDIfier kit!
I was looking for something else when I found this! I knew, or at least I seemed to remember that I’d bought one of these ages ago. Well I’ve found it and I’m planning to get it going soon(-ish). Ideally I’d like to get it running so that I can get it to work with my VL1 bot. We’ll see about that.

You might remember that I posted about this a week or so ago as I’ve made a bot that tweets stuff about the VL-1 including ADSR settings every hour. It’s a little bit of fun and nothing more, but you might want to follow it if you’d like to think of the old days of the VL-1, or if you have a VL-1 and want some sound suggestions for it.

A VL-1 thing?
So here’s my old Casio VL-Tone, the VL-1. I loved these little devices. In many ways they are where my journey into electronic music began.
So I’m doing something to do with Casio VL-Tones soon. It’s not a big thing, but it’ll be a fun thing.
