I suppose it was to be expected, but I’m glad to hear it. I really enjoyed the first series of “Survivors” from big finish and I’m looking forward to the next one coming in June of this year, so knowing that there’s another three seasons coming is good news.

A wonderful company that make audiobooks of some of my favourite stories, like Dr Who, Blake’s 7 and several others.
Blake’s 7: Truth and Lies … Well that was a season
I enjoyed this latest season of B7, but I’d have to say that it wasn’t the best of the lot. It was a good story arc but not the best that they’ve done in my opinion. Some of the individual stories were very good, that’s for sure but I felt the overall arc lacked something. In some ways it didn’t deliver for me.
Of course it’s very difficult to keep up a series like Blake’s 7. The quality has been pretty amazing at times. Not always, but overall the writing has been good and the performances are always to a really high standard. But the last season was just so good that it’s hard not to make comparisons.
But of course everything is apparently changing for Blake’s 7 at Big Finish, as they published this week. I don’t know what that really means, but I hope it’ll both maintain what they’ve done to date and improve it at the same time. Either way I hope there’ll be more Blake’s 7 to look forward to.
A well mannered war …
Well that was yet another piece of genius. Gareth Roberts’ story was excellent. Amusing, well paced, and entertaining. It had a superb ending which I won’t spoil for you, and a great cast. I enjoyed every minute.
I’m just hoping that Big Finish can put out some more material like this. I’m sure it can’t be easy as the standard is so high, but I think it would be wonderful if they put out more novel adaptations. What I’ve heard so far is amazing.
Doctor Who Novel Adaptations 2
Blake’s 7: Truth and Lies
Corpse Marker, a Fourth Doctor story
Big Finish have they’re Doctor Who licence extended to 2020
Which is excellent news from a selfish perspective in the main. I’m just really pleased to know that they’re going to continue to make excellent stories for Doctor Who. I think that they probably make the best stories around right now and I’d really like that to continue.
Next up from the 4th Doctor … Death Match
Requiem for the Rocket Men
I wasn’t sure what to expect with this story from Big Finish. I knew it would be good, they always maintain a high standard, but I had no idea that it was going this good. It really is one of the best stories I’ve heard in ages. It had me guessing the whole way through. It had loads of surprises and twists, and took a very different approach from other fourth Doctor stories.
I won’t give anything away, just in case you do listen to it, but it was brilliant.
More Liberator Chronicles
I bought these as part of the recent Big Finish sale on Blake’s 7 stories. I’ve already got volumes 1 and 2 and so I thought that getting this could be nothing but a safe bet.
I’m really looking forward to hearing this story, although I’ve got a nagging thought that I’ve heard 3 before. We’ll see.
